‘Tis the Season for Science at the California Academy of Sciences
'Tis the Season activities have ended. Please visit California Academy of Sciences for current events and check back in the fall for 2018 holiday season programming.
The California Academy of Sciences' annual holiday exhibit returns in 2018 with ‘Tis the Season for Science: Life on Ice, celebrating the remarkable adaptations that allow Arctic and Antarctic animals to thrive in snowy ecosystems.
Life on Ice features an array of special holiday programming, including:
- Festive live performances by musicians and cultural groups bringing holiday cheer to the Academy's Piazza stage on select dates
- A snowman-shaped domed theater, showing Science of Snow - a kid-friendly short film about the dazzling geometry of snowflakes
- Indoor snow flurries and a hands-on polar-themed exhibit - see how you stack up next to life-size models of polar bears and Emperor penguins
New for 2018 is an outdoor ice rink in the Academy's East Garden, open daily from Nov. 22 through Jan. 7. Lace up your skates and take a spin around the rink on a 55-minute skating session. Note, Ice Rink tickets are $12 ($10 for Academy members).
Don't miss the ice skating rink after dark at Nightlife for three Thursday nights only (Nov 30, Dec. 7, and Dec. 14) and see the museum transform into a lively venue filled with science, music, creatures and cocktails, for adults 21+. Check the website for dates and details.
'Tis the Season for Science: Life on Ice is a holiday destination for science lovers of all ages.
