Drop Everything: 8 Happy Hours You Need to Check Out Now

San Franciscans like their happy hours: we act like $1 oysters are our local right, and any excuse to meet up with friends and get our snack and drink on early is a good one, especially when it’s Taco Tuesday. Here are some of our favorite deals around town.

Ichi Sushi (3282 Mission St.)
Monday-Saturday 5:30–7 p.m.
This Bernal sushi spot (with some of the better sushi in the city) has generous hours that extend beyond the work week for their happy hour in their back NI bar. You’ll find snacks for $3 (like skewers) and $6 plates to share, plus a $14 chirashi special, $4 beer, and $6 sake and wine specials. Pro tip: check out their new nearby location, Ichi Kakiya (3369 Mission St.), an oyster shop with great $1 oysters, $8 and $10 wine and $4 beer specials. Same hours.

Fog City (1300 Battery St.)
Monday–Friday 4–6 p.m.
This spacious waterfront-adjacent spot has a big bar area and outdoor seating, making it a popular spot for happy hour, with $1.50 oysters, $3 tacos, $7 wine, $4 beer and $6 shots. Pro tip: There’s a second special that runs after 9 p.m.: you can come in any night for their classic burger and enjoy it at the bar for just $9, with fries! Gaspar Brasserie (185 Sutter St.)
Monday–Friday 4–6 p.m.
Downtown workers benefit from the happy hour at this stylish two-level brasserie, which boasts not just one but two bars. You can enjoy $1 oysters, $1 devilled eggs, $3 pommes frites, $5 wine and $6–$7 cocktails. www.gasparbrasserie.com

E&O Asian Kitchen (314 Sutter St.)
Monday–Saturday 3–6 p.m.
Another happy hour spot for downtown workers (or hungry shoppers) is this pan-Asian spot, with $1 oysters and dumplings, $2–$4 snacks (like their famed Indonesian corn fritters and beef short rib sliders), and a $22 pu-pu platter you can share with friends. There are also $4 beer and $6 wine and cocktail specials. www.eosanfrancisco.com

Bartlett Hall (242 O'Farrell St.)
Monday–Friday 3–6 p.m.
For downtown folks looking for more of a gastropub vibe (with TVs to watch sports), this masculine-yet-upscale place offers $5 snacks (like wings and pizza), $5 beer and wine, $9 cocktails and a $10 beer-and-a-shot special in case you’ve had that kind of day. www.bartletthall.com

Bar Crudo (655 Divisadero St.)
Daily 5–6:30 p.m.
This happy hour may only run for 90 minutes, but people flock to this Divisadero Corridor seafood spot for $1 oysters and $1 spicy marinated mussels (minimum order is a half-dozen), $6 snacks like their famed chowder, $10 for two rock cod tacos, and $4 beer (they have some great ones), and $6 wine.

La Urbana (661 Divisadero St.)
Monday–Friday 4–6:30 p.m.
A neighbor to Bar Crudo, this upscale Mexican restaurant features an open air/party room that opens on the street called El Garaje, where you find folks hanging out on folding chairs and drinking margaritas (food and drink specials change weekly, like Taco Tuesday and Mezcal y Mariscos Wednesdays, but the vibe is always lively). www.laurbanasf.com

Tropisueño Mexican Kitchen (75 Yerba Buena Lane)
Monday–Friday 4–6 p.m.
Another place where you can say, “¡Arriba!” is at this casual downtown Mexican place in Yerba Buena Lane, with $3-$7 snacks (tacos, nachos, and quesadillas), $2.50 Tecate, $5 cocktails and $4.50 well shots. There’s a patio, too. www.tropisueno.com
