Go Behind the Scenes at Aquarium of the Bay
At Aquarium of the Bay, guests step into a tranquil environment and venture through underwater tunnels where leopard sharks, bat rays, and schools of anchovies swirl overhead. Visitors get lost in the mesmerizing world of jellies and encounter the Bay’s largest predator, the sevengill shark. Plus, guests get a chance to meet sea stars, anemones, bat rays, skates, and even sharks in the Aquarium’s touchpools, as well as enjoy the antics of North American river otters as they play, swim, explore, and more.
The Aquarium also offers a unique opportunity to explore the magic, beauty, and wonder of San Francisco Bay while getting a sneak peek at what goes on behind the scenes. Here, you can traverse the catwalks above the tanks, learn about dive operations, and find out how the Aquarium cares for more than 20,000 marine animals. Behind-the-Scenes Tours offer a special perspective on the Aquarium’s main habitat areas as well as its mission to protect, restore, and inspire conservation of San Francisco Bay.
Behind-the-Scenes Tours last 45 minutes, and are offered daily at 1 p.m., with additional tours at 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Tickets for the tour plus general admission, or for tour only, can be purchased online or in-person at the Aquarium’s Guest Services desk.
