Group Visiting Options at SFMOMA
Visiting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) as a group can take your experience to the next level. A group tour, special discounts or private experience might just make your visit perfect.
Private Guided Tours
Private guided tours are available for individuals or groups of any size. Book a party, a reunion, or a fun date night to enjoy a unique visit to the museum with a knowledgeable art historian.
Private tour options include tours of the Painting and Sculpture Collection, the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection, SFMOMA Architecture, SFMOMA Highlights, and special exhibition tours. All private tours are one hour, but can be extended and/or combined. More information and rates can be found here.
Public tours at SFMOMA take visitors through the permanent collection and special exhibitions. Led by Museum Guides, the tours are a guided conversation in the galleries, with surprising stories about the artists and fun facts about the museum and works on view. Sharing is encouraged as the group explores the modern and contemporary art together. Leave with new ideas about how to look at art and the world around you.
Architecture and Exhibition Tours last 45 minutes and focus on a single exhibition with multiple stops. Spotlight Tours are 20 minutes in length and focus on an individual artwork or artist. Take each tour to maximize your experience! More information can be found here.
If your group numbers 10 or more, you can receive special rates of approximately 10% in savings off general admission tickets. You can also skip the ticket line and request a private tour. Groups larger than 20 can work with the expert Group Sales team at SFMOMA to craft the best itinerary and find the best date availability. For more information, explore Group Tours.
Museum experiences are great to encourage students to draw connections between art and their own lives and apply concepts learned in a new context. Teachers and their students are invited to explore the museum either with a Museum Guide or on a Self-Guided Visit. All scheduled school visits are free of charge for students and up to eight chaperones (including the teacher) per class. For more information, download a School + Teacher Programs brochure and view class-level suggested tours here. Educators can learn more about SFMOMA's robust resources and programming here.
For more information on these options, explore Group Tours.
With free admission for anyone 18 and under, visiting SFMOMA with the family is easy. Family restrooms with changing tables are available on two floors. Strollers and soft-sided carriers worn on the front are allowed in the galleries. Breastfeeding and bottle feeding are allowed in all spaces. For more information on family visits, including suggested kid-friendly experiences, explore SFMOMA's Visiting with Kids.
